These bushings are easy to install and remove. Loctite is not necessary for installation if they are torqued to the proper spec (27 in-lbs max for steel frames & 18 in-lbs max for aluminum). This bushing will work with grips not less than 0.190" thick.

We strongly recommend O-rings because of the benefits they provide, such as preventing stripped threads, eliminating loose grip screws, scuffed frames and providing the most secure mounting available for the 1911. You can feel the difference.

I've used Challis bushings and rings for a couple of years now. There just isn't a comparable product anywhere. The bushings and rings protect your valuable custom grips from damage resulting from the constant hammering upon firing. As an added plus, they keep your grips tightly screwed down relieving you of having to re-tighten them after every range trip.

I also chose to buy the bushing extractor - what a time saver! I had been heating each bushing with a soldering iron to soften the Loctite most manufacturers use. Generally, it takes 5 or 6 minutes per bushing. Considering the setup time, you're looking at 10 minutes per - 40 minutes to change all 4. The Challis bushing extractor makes that a quick and easy job - maybe 5 minutes to remove all 4. Time is money and this extractor saves both.

    Challis hex bushings, stainless

The 1911, a work horse that has been reeltively unchanged in design for over one hundred years. Sure there have been several modifications and add ones that have improved the overall feel of the pistol. Up until now, there has not been any "ground breaking" leaps forward in technology for the 1911.

The Challis hex bushings are a game changer! The bushing has been an often looked over part of the 1911 for an entire century. No one, until now, had thought of modifying this tiny part. The days of using an easy out or vise grips to removed a bushing are over. Now all that is needed is a nut driver. The hexagonal shape allows for a six-point socket to be used for a secure fitment.

The bushings design also allows the user to install o-rings to secure the grips to the frame.

Challis has taken this small, often overlooked part, and propelled it into the 21st Century.
