I replaced the thin-line hand grenade grips on my Springfield emissary with full thickness cocobolo grips. I used the full size Challis bushings and SOS screws and they look and work great. I had a little difficulty finding the correct wrench/socket size for the bushings and Mr. Challis reached out to me personally, and even updated the website so others would not have the same issue finding the correct size wrench. Such personal service is rare these days and I will definitely use Challis bushings for all my future 1911 work. A great product and phenomenal service. Thank you Sir!
I had to order these grip screw bushings to replace the ones sent off with the stock sample to my stock maker (mammoth ivory). They are to go in an AL frame Kimber 1911. It is VERY tricky getting bushings into these AL frames without damaging the female threads. As soon as this project started, I (somehow) removed the standard bushings and installed (very carefully) your hex drive bushings. At this point, I don't think I'll ever install another of the standard slotted bushings on any 1911. Yours are the best, a true problem solver. I will recommend this solution to friends.
Quick delivery, fair pricing, and excellent product. What else is there?
I've been using nothing but the Challis bushings for several years now. The materials and workmanship are the best in the biz. A top quality custom 1911 can only be made from top-quality parts, even the little things, even the invisible things. The Challis bushings and screws are made of the right stuff, the right way.
The design of the bushing is rock solid and fool proof. With the hex head, there is no chance of ruining the bushing as there is with the slotted type. There is also no chance of a socket slipping off of the hex head and scratching the frame. It's beyond me why manufacturers still use slotted bushings when Challis bushings are available.
