I needed to replace my bushings with slim grip bushings, and have experience working with tight screws. Used a properly fitted screwdriver, carefully applied torque, and the bushing itself literally fractured before it would give. No marring or warping, it just split an entire clean quarter off (thank you Rock Island loc-tite). This tool not only got the other bushings removed in a cinch and without damage, but even got the fractured one out despite only having one intact slot left to push against. For 28 bucks, worth the investment. Even if you only use it once, it beats a trip to the gunsmith, who probably uses exactly this product.
The ingenious design of this tool allows you to remove even the most stubborn bushings with ease, without any chance of damaging the bushing or the receiver. A+
Wow, I wish I would've thought of this... This is a very well thought out and designed tool ! Began changing grip bushings on my pistols to Challis bushings recently, after stripping two heads and having to carefully work them out with needle nose pliers and my vise, I decided to give this tool a try. I was so happy with the results that I bought a slim bushing tool as well. Hint, apply a little heat from a micro torch to the bushing prior to attempting to extract. Thank you ! I'm sure I will be utilizing these tools regularly. Love those bushings and the Wiha socket driver too !
I had two bushings that had been cerakoted and were so brittle that that both had tabs that broke off when I tried to remove them. This tool removed them with ease.
One of the best 1911 tools that I have ever used. The old bushings were seamlessly removed without any burring of the screw slot. I highly recommend.
