I actually bought this by accident, when I expected after leaving paypal that I'd come back here and have a final review and purchase page but instead the purchase had gone through. For the record, not a fan of this site's overall functionality. I had a difficult time just buying o-rings and this tool. Moving on, short story: Bought some slim 1911 grips, didn't realize there was a 'slim' grip setup for the 1911. I just thought I was buying slimmer grips. Did not fit my Colt's bushings. I actually had decided to just sell the grips and keep my factory grips but since I accidentally bought this, I decided to risk breaking my threading trying to get off colt bushings....

I must say it wasn't much of a risk LOL. This tool did it's job extremely easy. It made short work of the factory bushings that were staked. Stainless steel 1911 was made in 2016 or 2017. I forget the year. Anyway, I now have my slimmer grips on and am very pleased. No damage to speak of. Tool has got to be priceless to any gunsmith. As for people like me, it kind of stings to pay 25 bucks but I'm telling you, if you own colt, chances are very high you may as well not even try to change your grips unless you buy this tool. Just buy it if you see yours is staked, and if you know you'll never need it again and you probably won't unless you buy more Colt 1911s or reinstall colt bushings, sell it off on eBay or where ever. It's worth the hassle. Don't forget your o-rings. Just buy'm! or use loctite. whatever. I rate this tool 50 out of 5 stars. I plan to keep mine for future 1911 purchases.

I use this on some old colt models that were made by the singer sewing machine company ,when they made 1911 pistols around ww2 .I use the challis because I trust it as it will not mar or scratch any 100 yr old grip frames .I use this tool because its the one that works ,I change grips on 50 to 80 1911 pistols per week ,customers guns that run from Kimber to nighthawk to Wilson combat and cabot.this is the only tool I will use to remove and install 1911 grip bushings ,it fits perfectly and it works on every brand ,its the only bushing wrench that I will use .

Wonderful Design

Tool worked perfectly, especially since the original bushings were loctite'd and could not be easily removed with even a good fitting screwdriver. Well worht the price!
