The Challis bushing extractor is the most incredible gunsmithing tool ever. I have destroyed a few 1911 bushings before this. The Challis tool made short work, even in my staked in Colt grip bushings.

I purchased this tool to remove the Slim grip bushings from a new pistol with Cerakoted aluminum frame. The tool worked great! I attached the bushing extractor onto the bushing using the supplied grip screw. Using a small hand held butane torch, I heated the Grip screw for 3 seconds, then slid the rod through the extractor & turned the bushing out of the frame. The entire process took 4 minutes from start to finish. No damaged to the Cerakote finish or the frame. I will use this again & I recommend this tool to anyone that needs to change Slim bushings. I will purchase the standard bushing extractor also!

There is no substitute for the right tool. Get you one and do the job right the first time. Don't be a loser. This tool is well made and well thought out. It delivers the performance needed for removing 1911 grip bushings without damaging the frame or the bushing. It is quick and easy to use, too! Apply a little heat to soften the Loctite, mount tool onto bushing and rotate tool to extract bushing. It's that simple. Highly recommended if you really care about your 1911's and take pride in your work.
