I purchased both of the grip screw bushing extractors ( Stand Size / Slim Size ) and used them both and truth be told I wish I would have had these a long time ago because I have screwed up so many bushings trying to remove them and now it is so simple and quick to remove the grip screw bushing from any 1911, get one or both and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
The benefits to using this to remove your bushings far outweigh the cons. They made bushing removal/replacement quick, easy, and almost idiot proof. What cons? I honestly can't think of any.
The Challis bushing extractor is brilliant. -Easy to use. -Eliminates the possibility of damaging your frame or bushings. -Alleviates the stress associated with removal of stubborn bushings. Buy it once and you'll never revert back to any other bushing removal tool. I used it to remove the OEM Colt slim bushings on my Lightweight Commander. The extractor removed the bushings in seconds and only took minimal force to break the bushings loose.
This tool and its companion full size bushing extractor make it virtually impossible to mess up removal regular slotted bushing removal. It locks onto the bushing and provides great leverage. A “must-have” for those that work on their own 1911s.
Worked like a charm to remove bunged up slimline bushings. Couldn’t ask for better.
